Banana Boats

Beth says, “I learned to make these at a camp where I worked during the summers in high school.  Cooked bananas didn’t sound good at all to me at first, but once I’d tried a bite, I was hooked!  I’ve seen others make these with other fillings, like peanut butter.  Try experimenting!”

Ingredients:
            1 large banana per person
            Milk chocolate chips
            Mini marshmallows
            Tin foil

Directions:
With a knife, cut two slits in the banana peel down the length of the inside curve of each banana.  Cut a slit across one end of your two lengthwise cuts, creating a flap in the banana peel almost the length of the banana that’s attached at one end.

Pull back the flap and cut a “trench” down the length of the banana, removing the contents.  Fill each trench with chocolate chips and marshmallows, then cover the trench and its contents with the flap of peel.

Wrap the entire banana tightly in tin foil and place in the campfire coals, filling side up.  Wait about 10 minutes, then CAREFULLY remove, unwrap, and enjoy!
