Cherry S’more Cobbler
Contributed by Mark Brown, Omaha, Nebraska
Mark says, “This cobbler is the first to disappear at our campouts. I entered it in a Scout cooking contest and won! I got to throw a pie in the face of any leader. I chose my dad.”
Ingredients:
2 sleeves Graham crackers
1/2 stick of butter, sliced into “pats” or melted
Chocolate cake mix
2 cans cherry pie filling
1 10 oz. bag mini marshmallows
12 oz. lemon-lime soda (7-Up)
12” Dutch oven
Directions:
Line the Dutch oven with foil or a round foil pan.
Crush the Graham crackers, then pour half of one sleeve of the crushed Graham crackers into the bottom of the Dutch oven. Pour 1/4 of the marshmallows into the bottom of the Dutch oven on top of the Graham crackers. Pour 1 can of pie filling over the crackers and marshmallows. Then repeat this process, making a second layer of Graham crackers, marshmallows, and using the second can of pie filling. Make this mixture as even as possible in the Dutch oven, and top with more Graham crackers and marshmallows. Sprinkle the cake mix and remaining crackers and marshmallows over the top. Finally, place the pats of butter (or pour the melted butter) over the top, followed by the can of soda.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
Variation: Chocolate Covered Cherries Contributed by Tobin B. of Troop 308
