Fettuccini Alfredo w/Breadsticks
Contributed by Tony Marriott, Omaha, Nebraska
Tony says, “I love your store and the cool things that you do, like the cookbook. I used this recipe when I was backpacking with my brother in the Maroon Bells outside of Aspen, Colorado. We made this on a small backpacking stove. It was very good after a tiring hike up the mountain.”
Ingredients:
Fettuccini noodles
Alfredo powder
Bread or bread sticks
Water
Directions:
Boil water, add the fettuccini noodles. Boil noodles until the water is almost gone, then add the alfredo powder and mix.
Letting the pasta cool a bit, broil the bread, using the stove.
Enjoy!
Two more ideas for backpacking:
-
Carry your trail mix in a Nalgene bottle. The bottles hold a ton of trail mix, are easy to open and easy to carry. Plus your trail mix ingredients don’t get crushed.
-
In order to practice Leave No Trace wilderness ethics, save leftover water used for cooking your food, add hot chocolate powder to it, and drink it. This way you won’t introduce food particles to the wild.
